tulca visit.
my artist is kasia kamimska.
on moday 11th we visited tulca exhibitions all around galway.
as part of a proect we have to research our artist and then once we have visited the exhibitions we have to make a response to a particular artwork or the exhibition in general. written and visual.

Artist Statement
The piece of work i have produced was derived from an article that caught my attention in the newspaper. the article was about the government releasing the whereabouts of sex offenders in Ireland.
Themes of power, protection, security and imprisonment came to mind when analysing this piece.
The material i used was wire and i created a barbed wire fence to portray the idea of imprisonment. i wanted to show imprisonment in art form because i felt the public are imprisoned in their own homes because of sex offenders, the government are imprisoned behind their big buildings and walls and sex offenders are roaming the streets freely.
It took me a me a very long time to get creative with my ideas. i felt that i looked into the article too much and strayed from making a piece of artwork. if i was to do this again i would quickly think of themes and spend majority of the time being creative.

"public to be warned about sex offenders" was the heading of my article. i found this very intriguing because i felt that the government were a bit slow and coming to this idea. As it would benefit in protecting the public if the information of sex offenders whereabouts is produced. in class and at home we came up with ideas and produced sorts of mind maps. we then planned on making a piece of work based on our ideas.

We had to choose an article before class and take themes and intriguing words from it. we had to make a mindmap and then produce an artwork based on a theme. the art work could not be literal to the text.

30/09/2013 Class Project
Project. An artist was given in class at random to each student. we have to produce and present a mindmap on our research done on that artist. Internet is not allowed to be used only books.
